SONS OF GOD ARE ALIVE. THEY SPREAD SPIRIT AND LIFE
30/03/24 09:08
God does not always communicate Himself to us through religion. He shares Himself with us with Himself and this is the adventure of life. This was the mode before the fall and it is the living way that pertains at the end of the fall – when Jesus cried, ‘It is finished!’
What was finished? The kind of un-life that we call ‘normal.’ Mich Albom writes, “So many people walk around in a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important.” (a) Not a few Christians who are charity activists are not alive in their spirit. This includes Christians who live in their religion instead of the agency that could be theirs in Christ their life, aka the incarnated self.
HIDING FROM GOD
Sadly religion can be utilised as a subtle means of avoiding intimacy with God. We may prefer to hide from Him in the folds and fabrics/ fig-leaves of our religious motions. Who would have thought that some would seek ‘safety’ from God in the thicket of religion? This is the point made by the author of ‘God’s Trademarks.’ Could this be why some of the busiest people oppose revival? Could their preference be self-validation rather than the validation of God in Christ?
Nevertheless, we can only be revealed as who we really are, and really only alive when we are hidden in Christ so that Christ is our life , which means we are alive and our journey is alive with spirit and life.
HE IS THE WAY AND THE LIFE
The way of union with God and the achievement of Godliness is God – in the person of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Specifically, God expressed as you. The law does not make us God. God makes us holy as His life becomes our life.
“Since it is only through himself that God reveals himself, God himself is the personal content of his revelation to us embodied in Jesus Christ his incarnate Son. Since it is only through himself that communion with God is accessible to us, God himself is the personal reality of that communion granted to us in the Holy Spirit.” (1)
PARTISAN IDOLS
Politicians, following ‘dialogue’ may claim that their discussion was ‘fruitful’. But it was not. Similarly we may assert that some ‘observance’ or rite or some ‘key’ or some ‘gift’ of the Spirit affords holiness. But it does not. Such beliefs are a diversion from the truth that it is Christ in us who makes us alive in our spirit.
TRUTH BETTER THAN ‘A FAITH’
Most people believed the earth was flat, but that meant nothing. The truth is that Christ is our life and only Christ is our life. In Christ and in the agency of the Spirit the life of our Father is ours and their nature becomes ours as we grow into our glory as sons and daughters of God. Spirit and life come from Christ in you and it does so because of Him – the trinity is in you and you have been made one with the trinity. This is you as a whole person and a minster of Christ’s life in all you do.
